The Event

The Mid-Year Seminar has been successfully conducted on 26th July 2019 at Auditorium 1, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Sungai Buloh.

The mid-year seminar was co-organized by Institute of Pathology, Laboratory and Forensic Medicine (I-PPerForM), Universiti Teknologi MARA with the theme “Entomology and Justice: What else Can Flies Tell about Death

Participants

A total of 196 participants attended the seminar, including participants from Indonesia, Thailand and India. This interesting seminar attracted various groups of participants including MSPTM members, entomologists, forensic scientists, police officers, forensic pathologists, medical officers, forensic science undergraduate, postgraduate students, and others.

Speakers

The seminar consisted of five key talks related to the overview of forensic entomology in Malaysia, forensic cases, and research on forensic flies from morphology to genomics. Speakers for this seminar were Dr Nazni Wasi Ahmad, Supt. Vignesvaran s/o Velauthan, Dr. Christine Picard, Prof. Dr. Kabkaew Sukontason, and Dr Charity Owings. The plenary talks were followed by a forum moderated by Dr. Heo Chong Chin, and by research linkage meeting and presentation.
