To commemorate the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP) Conference held in Malaysia on 4th to 8th September, 2017, a tree planting activity was carried out by the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine (MSPTM) on 22 September 2018 at the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong.

This program is one of the Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) carried out by the Society. MSPTM as a professional NGO supports our government’s effort in tree planting programs which promotes social awareness in environmental protection.

The timber trees planted were from the following local varieties; Sepetir, Balau-laut, Merbau, Keladan, Pelong and Keruing. The activity was participated by Dr Ramlan Mohamed (Chairperson of WAAVP 2017, Kuala Lumpur), Dr Sam Mohan (Vice President), Dr. Heo Chong Chin (Hon. Secretary), Dr. Stanley Tan (Hon. Assist. Secretary), Dr. Lucas Low (Hon. Assist. Treasurer), Dr. Cheong Fei Wen (Council Member), Ms. Victoria Foo (AOS), two officers from FRIM and other volunteers and family members.

A total of 13 trees have been planted successfully and a certificate of appreciation was presented to Dr Ramlan Mohamed. The program ended around 11 am with group photographs.
