Entomology and Justice: What Else Can Flies Tell about Death?
This mid-year seminar was organized by the MALAYSIAN SOCIETY OF PARASITOLOGY AND TROPICAL MEDICINE (MSPTM) together with the INSTITUTE OF PATHOLOGY, LABORATORY AND FORENSIC MEDICINE (I-PPerForM), Universiti Teknologi MARA. The seminar took place in Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Sungai Buloh, from 9 am to 5 pm on 26th July 2019.
There were a total of 196 participants attended the seminar, including participants from Indonesia, Thailand and India. This interesting seminar attracted various groups of participants including MSPTM members, entomologists, forensic scientists, police officers, forensic pathologists, medical officers, forensic science undergraduate, postgraduate students, and others.
The morning session saw a total of 5 talks delivered by local and international speakers followed by a forum. The speakers are:

The afternoon session was dedicated for an Extraordinary General Meeting (for MSPTM members only) and a research linkage meeting for other participants.
This successful and impactful mid-year seminar is hoped to build and strengthen research collaboration with other researchers, spark an interest amongst the younger participants to join the field of Forensic Entomology, and improve standards of work in the field of Forensic Entomology with the knowledge gained during the seminar.
We hope that such high quality mid-year seminar will continue to be held every year for the benefit of the MSPTM members and other related practitioners. See you next year!
